John Wilson

John Wilson received his musical education at the Northern School of Music where he studied the piano with Eileen Chadwick and Kendal Taylor. He was later appointed staff accompanist at the Northern School Of Music (NSM), and subsequently held the post of Head of Opera Music Staff, then Senior Accompanist at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).

John performed in numerous radio and television broadcasts, and worked closely with the late Keith Swallow for over 40 years as part of a regular duo and two-piano team.

In past years, John has partnered Paul Tortelier, Sir Michael Tippett, and Yehudi Menuhin in televised masterclasses. In 1988, John was made a Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music.

In his retirement, John enjoys composing and arranging alongside a busy schedule of being a grandfather of 8, and great grandfather of 2 (soon to be 4 in 2026).
