Buide's music ranges from pieces for solo instruments to large orchestral works, including choral and chamber music. His orchestral works have been played by the Pittsburgh SymphonyMinnesota OrchestraYale PhilharmonicCarnegie Mellon Orchestra, and many of Spain’s top orchestras.
Buide has worked with conductors such as Dima SlobodenioukLibor PesekOsmo VäsnkaPablo GonzálezMartínez IzquierdoErik NielsenKerem HassanClemens SchuldtJosé Ramón EncinarLorenzo ViottiRossen MilanovJaime MartínRubén Gimeno and Diego García. Particularly strong is his artistic relationship with Paul Daniel, who has premiered five of Buide’s symphonic pieces of with orchestras such as the Real Filharmonia de Galicia and the Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid. Furthermore, during the 2014-15 season, Buide was the Spanish living composer most performed by professional orchestras in Spain. Buide’s music has also been performed in music festivals such as Dartington Summer Festival, UK; the Granada International Festival and Quincena Musical Donostiarra, Spain, and the Yale Norfolk Summer Festival, among others. The festivals Are More and Via Stellae in Spain have also programmed concerts solely dedicated to the works of Buide. Buide is also the founder of the Musica Practica Ensemble in Spain.

As a prizewinner, Buide has won the Spanish Rome Prize, the seventh edition of the AEOS-BBVA award, the first Michael Friedmann prize of Yale University, the Barrié de la Maza Scholarship, and the Harry Archer Memorial Prize in Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda honor society.

Buide received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale University and his Master of Music Composition degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He has also studied and received degrees from the conservatories of Santiago de Compostela and Oviedo, Spain. Buide studied composition with Leonardo BaladaMartin BresnickAaron Kernis, and Ezra Ladermann. He also studied organ with Antonio Díaz Corveiras and Donald Wilkins.

During the 2018-19 season Buide is artistic advisor of the OSPA, Symphonic Orchestra of Principado de Asturias, Spain. In November 2019, he will premiere his first opera, written with the support of the “Leonardo” BBVA Foundation Grant, with a libretto by Fernando Epelde.
