Cooper, Philip

Philip Cooper won a scholarship to study the doublebass with Raymond Koster, principal bass of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and then went on to the Royal College of Music in London where his tutor was Rodney Slatford. Philip spent a short period as sub-principal bass of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra before gaining the same position with the orchestra of Opera North, a position he has held since the company was formed in 1978.
