Firth, Nicholas J (1961- )

Nic studied the horn & composition at Birmingham Conservatoire from 1980-84. After a short period free-lancing he was appointed as Director of Brass at Repton School in Derby in 1985. From 1999 to 2004 he was Musical Director of Glebe Symphonic Winds, guiding them to a Gold Medal performance in the BASBWE national contests. He was elected to Head of Instrumental Music at Repton in 2006 and subsequently became the founding Director of Music at Repton School, Dubai from 2008 to 2014. Nic has always been an active composer writing original music for brass, orchestra, musicals, and a series of Latin Plays performed at Repton through the 1990’s amongst others. He is also a writer and novelist.
